Abstract: This lecture will unpack the widely-­discussed notion of reproducibility, see e.g. "How Science Goes Wrong," and present a framework for addressing the credibility crisis based on the traditional notion of the scholarly record and features of research investigations.

Dr. Stodden will then use this framework to evaluate and propose criteria for transparency in the policy making context, and set other efforts such as the Open Access and Open Data movements within this context. Time permitting, she will give a recent policymaking example to illustrate the issues and potential steps forward.
