BLACKSBURG, Va., Nov. 6, 2003 - Dr. Bruno Sobral is sharing bioinformatics research news in a series of talks both in the United States and abroad. On November 4, he presented “A Life Scientist’s Road to Interoperability for Data and Tools” to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Data Integration Panel in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Sobral also visited the United States Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC) in Frederick, MD on November 5. While there, he gave an overview of the PathPort (short for Pathogen Portal) technology being developed at Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI) in he presentation entitled, “Data and Tool Integration and Interoperation in Support of PathoSystems Biology”.
November 10 will find Dr. Sobral in Switzerland presenting “Overview of the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute and PathoSystems Biology” in which he discussesVBI’s research partnerships and goals for the future. In addition to speaking to several groups, he will serve on a panel of scientists and participate in discussions with other researchers. “It is exciting to share information about the great strides we’re making at VBI,” said Dr. Sobral. “I hope to develop thriving collaborations both in Europe and the U.S.”
