Pulling data from more than 5,400 opioid-related Twitter posts, scientists at the Biocomplexity Institute searched for common factors among the most highly shared content. Making social science experiments scalable to large populations is a major objective of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Next Generation Social Science program. To support this program, the agency has awarded Virginia Tech and four other university partners $3 million to conduct research that will streamline modeling processes, experimental design, and methodology in the social sciences.
