BLACKSBURG, Va., June 27 2008 - The Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI) at Virginia Tech will hold the 2008 VBI Research Symposium on September 6-7, 2008 at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. The two-day event will include oral and poster presentations from VBI researchers outlining the wide range of ongoing transdisciplinary research projects at the Institute.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Kimmen Sjölander, associate professor of bioengineering and leader of the Berkeley Phylogenomics Group at the University of California, Berkeley. Sjölander will deliver her presentation, "Development of computational methods for biological discovery," on September 7 at 1:00 p.m.
